Hero of the Soviet Union - Vladimir Gasoyan
Mr Radoevich Galian (b. 1953) - Hero of the Soviet Union, Navigator of the Tu-134A crew of the civil aviation administration of Tbilisi aviation enterprise, senior Lieutenant of the reserve-Yazidi origin. Ethnic Yezidis.
On 18 November 1983, he was a crew member of the Tu-134A flying on the Tbilisi — Batumi — Kiev — Leningrad route. On Board the aircraft were 64 people, including 57 passengers and 7 crew members. During the flight, the airliner was attacked by a group of armed criminals (9 people). The bandits shot the attendant, fatally wounded the flight engineer, Deputy chief of flight navigation Department civil aviation authority of the Georgian SSR (Valentina Krutikova, Anzor Chedia, Zaven Shabartayn) and two passengers. Seizing the plane, the criminals demanded to land in Turkey. The crew did not obey and using a service weapon, was able to return fire, free the cabin from the terrorists and close the door from the inside. The plane was landed at Tbilisi airport. On November 19, 1983, the special services conducted a military operation to free the hostages. During operation one terrorist was shot, one shot himself, the others in 6 hours 55 minutes were neutralized, passengers are released. For courage and heroism in the apprehension of dangerous criminals, by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of 6 February 1984 Galiano Vladimir Radoevich awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union and the order of Lenin and medal "gold Star". In the city of Rylsk on one of the academic buildings of the Rylsk aviation technical College of civil aviation, in memory of the Hero, a memorial plaque. WE ARE PROUD OF OUR HERO!
